You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-23

The last three chapters of Ephesians exhort believers to live a life worthy of their calling. Yesterday, in our church service, we talked about “keeping the unity of the Spirit” as a part of living a life worthy of our calling. Ephesians 4 also exhorts us to live righteously as a way to live a life worthy of our calling! That involves putting off the attitudes of our flesh and embracing our new self in Christ.

We can be tempted to try to live righteously in our own strength. But living righteously begins  by staying connected to Christ, who is the head of the church. I pray that this summer each of us will experience times of deep connection with our savior and, as a result, we would be empowered to live a God-glorifying life!
