Greetings, Church,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! Having recently returned from a very generous sabbatical, I have had ample time to reflect on what is really important in life. In our local church we desire to see each person flourishing in lifestyles of Worship, Community, and Mission. That’s because we are trying to follow Jesus, and we see Him living that way. But while each of these lifestyles matters to God, one of them matters most.

Worship is the headwaters; Community and Mission flow downstream. If Community and Mission are locked doors we would open, then Worship is the key. To go about the work of Community and Mission without getting our Worship in line is like a branch going out to bear much fruit while severed from the vine.

Keeping Jesus at the center of our Worship — submitting to Him all our emotions, beliefs, actions and words — is the most important thing. He is the Source, and His love is enough. So if you want to grow in a lifestyle of Community or Mission in this place, set your heart on the love of Jesus and let Him set the pace.
