Brothers and Sisters,

Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28–30)

As we approach the new year, our instinct is often to rush ahead, to set goals, make plans, and turn the page as quickly as possible. But before Jesus ever sends us forward, He invites us to come closer. Reflection is not wasted time; it is sacred ground.

Looking back with Jesus helps us notice where He was faithful, where He carried us when we were tired, and where His grace met us in ways we may have missed. Review allows gratitude to rise and truth to settle, grounding us in what God has already done before we ask Him to do something new. When we pause to process the year with Jesus, we learn to walk lightly. We release what was never ours to carry, name what still needs healing, and listen for what He wants us to hold differently. Only then are we ready to look ahead, not driven by urgency or pressure, but shaped by trust.

As we close this year, may we resist the urge to rush forward and instead practice the gentle rhythm of reflection, learning to move into the next season with hearts that are attentive, free, and anchored in Him.

Here’s a 10-15 minute tool designed for you to use as often as you want to reflect with Jesus: celebrate what God has done, release what you can’t control, and re-center your heart in Jesus’ presence. Brought to you by the Collegiate Church Network.

Walk Lightly: A Rhythm of Reflection with Jesus

May you experience God’s presence as you reflect on 2025. And in His presence may you look to 2026 with hope and expectation.

Happy New Year New Life! May this be your best year with Jesus yet!

Shalom,

Jay, on Behalf of the Elder and Minister Team
