Here I am. Here you are. Here WE are, Church Fam!  

If you missed yesterday’s message, I promise I’m not channeling my inner William Faulkner for no reason. Kyle kicked off our fall launch series, “Here I Am,” yesterday looking at the story of Moses and the burning bush. Over the next couple of weeks we will look at two more stories where a person responds “Here I am!” upon hearing the voice of the Lord.  

One of my seminary professors once said that “Here I am” is the righteous response to God’s call in our lives. This has stuck with me as my natural response to God’s voice tends to be more along the lines of “Are you sure?” Yet, when I have yielded and stepped out in obedience to what the Lord has called me to do, I have seen Him move in powerful ways. They aren’t always the way I expect, but that doesn’t make them any less powerful. So as we dive into this series, I invite you to consider how God might be getting your attention. How is He speaking to you today? What is He calling you to do? Who is He calling you to be? And, what does it look like to respond to those calls with a faith filled, “Here I am”?

Those questions might seem overwhelming; a great place to learn about what it looks like to hear from God and obey Him is in a Discipleship Group. We have groups all across the campus and city that meet regularly to pray, read Scripture, and ask the question, “How is God getting my attention?" If you are interested in joining a Discipleship Group, you can talk to your home group leader, a staff member, or just write it on your Connection Card next week. The same God who spoke to Moses is speaking to us today and it is our job to respond.
