Hello Church,
We are now into the fall season, officially. Cooler days, chilly mornings and evenings, later sunrises and earlier sunsets, leaves changing and falling to the ground, the whole deal. Fall makes some people quite happy and for me I get a bit sad… if it’s fall now, that means winter’s not too far off. I’m sure we’ll be fine, but I’m dreaming of summer!
There are elements of fall I enjoy; I like the pretty trees, I like football, and I enjoying seeing God work in people’s lives. In the annual calendar of our church, a lot of work is done to prepare and plan for the fall ministry season. You plan, you then do the work, and then you wait to see what God might do.
This fall has been particularly exciting for me to watch. I have heard several stories of people who didn’t grow up in the Church and yet have found themselves curious about faith. God has pursued them and they have responded. They have wrestled with Scripture, asked great questions, and counted the cost of yielding one’s life to Jesus’ ways. It has been a joy to watch God supernaturally draw people into relationship with Him.
Another thing this fall that has been interesting in terms of God’s work, is being a part of the church as we begin the Next Gen Campaign. At times I’ve felt overwhelmed by the task ahead of us and then there are moments where I feel filled with faith. It has been curious to see those moments of faith beginning to become more frequent, and as faith has slowly increased there has been growing anticipation of what God might want to do right in front of our eyes.
As we press on into October and beyond, I encourage all of us to keep our eyes open to witness what God wants to do around our community!
