I was challenged by Kyle’s sermon to imagine the person into which God wants me to grow, and challenged to believe that power to grow is available to me through the Spirit. I was recently reading Romans 1 with some folks and verse twenty-one stuck out:
"For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened."
The impact of refusing to glorify and thank God is the erosion of our minds and hearts. Glorifying God is ascribing Him weight or significance above all things. Thanking God acknowledges Him as the giver of all good things. Habitually glorifying and thanking God is essential to grow into the people God has made us to be. I pray we are a church that can be described by these habits.
