Dear New Life,

As we begin this final week before Christmas, I want to encourage you. Some of you are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel after a busy year, while some of you are exceptionally busy still. It matters ... but it doesn't matter. I think of Paul when he says,

Philippians 4:11-13 NIV

"... I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength."

Don't link your contentment to your circumstances. We are loved and seen by a powerful God who doesn't miss anything and knows what we need. We just need to ask. So if you're busy, don't just dream about a day when you won't be. Ask God for what you need for contentment right now. And if you're kicking back and enjoying some time off, don't forget that we still need God even when we aren't stressed or pressed.

As you labor or rest this week, may you know the peace, presence, and power of God!
