Dear Church,

I am re-reading a book by the late Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, who writes,

"God is of no importance

Unless He is of supreme importance."

I thought this a fitting idea for reflection during the month of December. What do you make of it? What would it look like to love God more than anything else in our lives this Christmas season? Or just for a day? Or a minute? Or a second? I am often thinking about how I am going to spend my time and my money and my energy, but I do not live unto myself. Profoundly, everything I have is a gift. Think about that. It is the same with you. Together, what we actually decide is what to do with God’s time, God’s money, and God’s energy. Every season, every day, every minute, every second belongs to Him, and He has graciously decided to share these gifts with us.

What will we do with them, I wonder?
