Dear New Life,After yesterday's Easter worship service, I found myself wrestling with a new, perhaps even profound, question:If there were starburst jelly beans at the last supper, would Jesus have eaten them? For the record, I love starburst jelly beans and I think Jesus would likely feel the same way. Scripture says he was tempted in every way, just like we are. Like the Shroud of Turin from Pastor Kyle's sermon yesterday, it's a real mystery...but it did lead me to a second question: What does it look like to bring the profound implications of "Christ has Risen" into our day-to-day lives after Easter? There is so much power in the message of the gospel. It is a message of hope that everyone around you still needs. Even though that is true, it's easy for us to slip back into our normal life rhythms. How does the resurrection of Jesus change all that? As Kyle said, it means that Jesus has already overcome our two biggest foes: death and sin. This feels like the kind of news that ought to change the course of how we live. As you grapple with what that means for your own life, may you experience God's grace and peace close to your side.He is risen!Pastor Joel VanderSchelOn behalf of the Elder and Minister Team
