Good Morning, New Life Church!
In just two weeks we have a Baptism Sunday on October 30th. We do these several times throughout the year and for many at New Life these are their favorite services. I am one of those New Lifers.
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change of heart. In baptism, followers of Jesus who have been transformed by the gospel inwardly, put the gospel on full display outwardly as they are baptized. It is experiential for both the disciple being baptized and the body of believers witnessing and doing the baptism. Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with [Jesus] through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Baptism Sundays are joy filled celebrations, overflowing with worship, that are literally and figuratively soaked in the truths of the gospel.
Baptism is an important step in the life of a disciple of Jesus. In baptism, we follow the example of Jesus (Matt 3:13-17), obey the command of Jesus (Matt 28:18-20), declare publicly that we are a disciple of Jesus, and identify as a part of the body of Christ (God’s Church). At New Life, we LOVE helping disciples of all ages take this next step with Jesus.
Whether you you’ve been following Jesus for a long time or just started following, if you have placed your faith in Jesus but never been baptized, I encourage you to take that step.
If you are ready to be baptized or want to talk more about baptism please let us know. There is still time before October 30th and we’d love to help you take this next step with Jesus. Excited to celebrate with you all soon!
